1. How long will my refund take?
    Australian Tax Office (ATO) normally processes tax refunds within 14 working days of lodging the tax return. However, in some cases there may be delays and can take up to 3 weeks. Note: Current year tax returns usually take less time to process compared to previous years’ returns.
2. How much do you charge?
  The fee for tax return preparation depends upon the complexity of income and deductions involved. See Fee and Charges for more details.
3. Can you deduct your fee from my refund?
  Yes we can. This service has an additional $20 charge. In these where there’s no refund or refund is less than our service fee, we will require service payment upfront.
4. Can I also lodge past years’ tax returns using this website?
  Yes you can. You can lodge your past years’ pending tax returns in the current year. Note: Past years’ refund may take more time to process.
5. Can I get my refund by cheque or directly to bank?
  Yes you can. You can opt for a refund cheque mailed to your postal address or you can provide your bank details so that refund can be deposited directly to your bank account.
6. Do I get a notification of lodgement of tax return with ATO?
  Yes. You will be notified about lodgement of your tax return via email.
7.What happens if I owe the tax office money?
  ATO will send you a payment advice mentioning the amount of debt and the due date of payment.
8. Do I get the same refund as the estimate provided to me?
  In most cases, yes! Our estimates will give you a good indication of what to expect, however there are circumstance beyond our control where ATO may apply adjustments as required.
9. Will you send me a copy of my final tax return?
  Yes. We will send a copy of your lodged tax return by email.
10. When can I apply for my tax-return?
  Tax returns should be lodged at the end of each financial year - after 30th June. Note: If you plan to leave Australia permanently and will no longer work for an Australian company or under the Australian law then you should lodge your tax return prior to leaving.
11. If I don’t have my Group Certificates/Payment Summary, can I still do my tax return?
  Yes and No.
Your group certificates and payment summary are required unless you are leaving Australia before the end of the Financial Year, in which case you can use your last Pay Slip. Pay slip must show the Total Gross Amount Earned, Total Tax Paid, Employer’s ABN and the period of employment.
In some cases we can help you find any missing payment summary from ATO, and if it’s not available with ATO your tax return can be lodged based on statutory declaration. This service incurs $25 search application fee.
12. What is the Tax-Free Threshold?
  Tax free threshold is the total amount of yearly income, being less than or equal to $6,000, where tax is not charged. Tax free threshold only applies to Australian residents. Non-residents are not entitled to the Tax-Free Threshold.
13. What happens if I make a mistake in the ONLINE TAX RETURN questionnaire?
  You can contact CNR to inform any errors and we will discuss and make the necessary changes. In addition as we finalise your tax return we will call you to discuss the lodgement and any obvious errors.
14. How long does the ONLINE TAX RETURN process take?
  It depends on the complexity of the tax return. For an average tax return it will take approximately 5-10 minutes to fill our user friendly online form and then allow 24 hours for one of our consultants to call you and discuss and finalize your return. Lodgement will take place within hours of your confirmation via email or fax.
15. Can I claim vehicle expenses if I have not kept a log book?
  Yes. However, maintaining log books may result in a large expense deduction. Note: ATO allows the use of ‘cents-per-kilometre’ method which is limited to 5,000kms. If over 5,000kms you can claim up to one-third of actual expenses without a log book, or 12% of the original value of the vehicle. You can generally claim most expenses for larger trucks, vans and specially modified business vehicles.
